Running presents for Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of The Fat Runner's running friends!

TFR got some great gifts this Christmas including some great running presents!

From his wife, he got a Sugoi FinoStretch baselayer which will be a substantial improvement from the cotton t-shirts he normally runs in. The baselayer is designed to get sweat away from the body as soon as possible, so that TFR will be able to stay drier.

The running present from his wife will work very well with the baselayer - it is a very snazzy Pearl Izumi Vagabond jacket which will be great for running in the rain we will undoubtedly get in London in February, as well as keeping him warm over the winter. The jacket has zips under the arms to improve ventilation, a 'vent-flap' back, and fully detachable sleeves for when it's a little warmer... It's actually designed as a cycling jacket so will come in useful once TFR gets back on his bike in the spring. One final thing - it's got lots of reflective trim which should make sure he doesn't get run over when he runs at night....

The weather in London is relatively warm - about 8 deg C or 46 deg F - so TFR is running as much as he can - they are forecasting freezing temperatures for Thursday with snow - a rare occurrence for London. As TFR will be back at work on Thursday anyway, lots of good reasons to make sure he gets out running now!!

Happy New Year!

Running Again

The Fat Runner is running again!!

As you'll see from the 'Latest Runs' section, he's done a few runs since the latest injury... And while it's clear that there is still some strain there, it doesn't feel like running is causing any more damage.

He's also invested in some additional running kit!

Okay, he hasn't spent much, but it has really helped him keep on running now that the days are much colder in London.

It may sound obvious to most people, but running in a hooded sweatshirt has really helped, and hasn't overheated TFR in the way he worried it would.

He has now also invested in some fleece running gloves and a hat, for when the temperatures are beneath freezing (as they have been for many mornings in London). He has also bought some bright reflective yellow 'snap bands' to make him more visible to cars when he's out running. He has found a relatively low cost source for them, so if you're interested, then let him know (comment on this post) and he'll put in a bulk order.

Well TFR is about to start enjoying his Christmas vacation, get away from work, and hopefully increase his running mileage a little... So watch this space!
